Florence (Italian "Firenze") was formerly the
capital of the Grand Duchy of tuscany; from 1865
to 1870 it was the capital of the kingdom of
Italy, and it ranks with Romem Naples and Venice
as one of the most attractive towns in Italy. In
the middle ages the fine arts attained here the
zenith of their glory, and still to-day and amazing
profusion of treasures of art, as well as the
delightful environs, render it one of the most
beautiful cities in the world.
