On 10th July 1968 the four County Light Infantry Regiments of Somerset and Cornwall, Yorkshire, Shropshire and Durham were amalgamated to form the Light Infantry. The Regiment looks back on over 300 years of service to the crown and to its origins in the north American Wars. Years ago the Light Infantry used the bugle for conveying orders on the battle field. today the bugle is still used in barracks
