Royal Army Veterinary Corps


Although an Army Veterinary Service was established in the late 18th century, it was not until 1859 that veterinary surgeons with military rank were appointed to regiments. Today the Royal Army Veterinary Corps is responsible for the purchase, welfare and use of many hundreds of horses and dogs. The Corps Depot at Melton Mowbray houses the Army Schools of Farriery, Equitation and Dog training
