King Charles I. escaped from Oxford, April 26th 1646, and took refuge with the Scottish army. The Royalists soon afterwards surrendered to the Parliamentarians, Sir Thomas Glenham, the Cavalier leader, and his men being allowed to depart with the honours of war.
